Larry
and Nancy Merrill are your hosts in this fine,
old colonial turn-of-the-century Asheville bed and breakfast. Located
in the historic Montford District of Asheville,
North Carolina, AppleWood Manor Inn sits on its quiet acre and a half
of 'country in the city' surrounded by giant
oaks, pines, maples and other trees. Yet the Manor is just 3 miles from the breathtaking Biltmore Estate, a short 15-minute drive to slip onto the Blue Ridge Parkway and a 25-minute stroll past magnificent old homes to downtown Asheville.
In a time when so much is overlooked in the
hustle-bustle and time starvation, we invite you to romance yourselves
with a stay at our lovely Asheville, NC bed and breakfast and discover a personalized pampering experience rather than a cold and impersonal hotel or motel. By paying particular attention to fine details, we take extra pride and care in making your stay with us relaxing, memorable and having a touch of elegance even while you use our free Wi-Fi to check your emails.
We believe in privacy and intimacy, which is why we have kept the common areas on the first floor so open and large. We want you to find your private spot to reconnect and relax; so luxuriate in the formal dining room or parlor as well as the large living room and the many common area porches and balconies.
Our goal is to tailor your visit to your wishes and by doing so we hope to make your stay special. When you arrive we want you to kick off your shoes, put your feet up and make yourselves at home. Let us make you feel you have traveled back to a time when your happiness and comfort was our sole purpose in life.
Check in and unwind from your travels with
a complimentary social hour beverage in a rocker on one
of five porches. If you'd like, we'll help you plan your next day's
adventures of climbing Mt. Mitchell (the highest peak east of the Mississippi) or taking a train ride through the Smoky Mountains. Maybe we can help you plan a day of whitewater rafting/kayaking, hiking to view a multitude of natural waterfalls, or a visit to one of many local historical
attractions of Asheville, "Land of
the Sky". Asheville was also recently dubbed by The New York Times Travel , on September 30, 2007, the “Paris of the South” and 20/20 television (January 2008) has reported the newest research that Asheville is ’the happiest city’ in the USA. Finally, Fromm’s has recently voted this special city as one of the top ten destinations in the world (2007)!
After a busy day exploring all that this region has to offer, retire to your spacious guestroom arrayed with fine linens, fresh flowers and rich chocolates on your pillow. Dock your iPod in the clock radio and relax to your favorite music or
curl up in from of the cozy, working fireplaces and
get a refreshing night's sleep.
Awaken to the smell of the Manor’s
fresh fare. Enjoy a cup of fresh-brewed coffee
or hot tea by the fireside or lounge on one of the Manor’s
multiple porches while Nancy & Larry prepare
your three-course breakfast. Served on antique china under candle light, with a variety of enticing entrees fit for the Lords
and Ladies of the Manor, your breakfast is so substantial that we doubt you will be hungry for lunch!
After breakfast you may be off for a stroll to the nearby Botanical Gardens just a quarter mile away or a walk through the historic neighborhood for a peaceful start to your day's activities. For a more active start to the day, Montford Park is less than a quarter block away and is perfect for a game of tennis, or you might enjoy a game of croquet or badminton in the Manor's backyard.
Upon your return from your adventures, pause
a while with a calming beverage with cheese and crackers, a good conversation, a
good book, or catch up on news and sports on the communal remote control flat screen TV in the living room. A relaxed and comfortable evening will have you looking forward to another day
of living well and being pampered under the cordial roof here
at AppleWood Manor Inn.
