From the moment we arrived, we felt as if we were staying at a friend's house and not an inn. The inn is comfortable, not fussy. You are encouraged to curl up on the sofa to read your book or put your feet up on the coffee table while you watch TV. The fireplace in just about every room takes the chill off the cool evenings. And personal touches abound, from the birthday bread for my husband to the lemonade for the expectant mom also staying at the inn, nothing goes unnoticed.

Larry and Nancy make every effort to ensure your stay in Asheville is everything you want it to be. Not because it's their job as innkeepers, but because it's just their nature and they truly want you to enjoy their city as much as they do. Between Nancy and Larry, we could ask questions about the area and the house and get great information. The adorable dogs, Mr. Monty and Miss Maggie helped ease my cat 'withdrawal,' and the porches offered a hidden, quiet place for us to sip wine and relax. Healthy, delicious, HUGE, multi-course breakfasts, and wine and cheese for cocktails each evening gave an opportunity to visit with the other guests. We never could have dreamed up such a pleasant place! A stone's throw from Biltmore (which was our destination) we ended up with more appreciation of this lovely B&B than Biltmore. No kidding. Biltmore was interesting, but the Applewood has personalized charm and warmth. We were totally relaxed and excently cared for in this very pretty, historical structure!.”
