When the sun goes down, Asheville doesn’t fall silent. Why not experience Asheville’s own slice of off-Broadway at the NC Stage Company?
Nestled in the heart of Downtown Asheville, this 127-seat professional theatre produces 4-7 plays each season. Located at 15 Stage Lane, the theater is a mere 1.1 miles from Applewood Manor, which translates to a brief five-minute drive or a leisurely 23-minute stroll. Stage Lane, which is well-lit, branches off Walnut Street, positioned half a block from Malaprop’s Bookstore and directly opposite Zambra restaurant.
Having entertained audiences for over two decades, NC Stage has earned accolades for its artistic prowess, including recognition from the esteemed American Theatre Wing. The theater proudly hosted world premieres of plays such as “Stalking the Boogeyman” in 2013 and both “Curvy Widow” and “Brave New World” in 2016. Additionally, the company is the honored recipient of the George A. Parides Award from the North Carolina Theatre Conference for artistic excellence.
